Bangle bracelets have been around for a very long time, dating back to ancient Egypt. The styles worn by ancient cultures very much resemble the ones that are popular still. They are typically round and made from precious metals.
Typically these bracelets are worn in multiples. They slip over the hand and onto the wrist. The clanging sound of them when the knock into each other was viewed as a way to keep evil spirits away by many cultures.

The traditional bangles are a solid round circle that is slipped overt the hand on to the wrist. The other styles are split in two, the bottom is held together by some type of hinge and the top comes together with a clasp. The real measure not the way they go on the wrist but of what material they are made from. They can be made from all types of precious metals. There are some styles that are encrusted with jewels, and there are some simple varieties that are made from gold or silver. These days there are even styles that are made out of plastic.
Depending on the material from which they are made, directs where they can be purchased from. Fun colored plastic varieties can be had from many different sources, mainly department stores, and are usually only a couple of dollars.
The more expensive ones will be found in jewelry stores across the country. The exotic glass bangles are a little more difficult to find. The glass styles can be found in some jewelry stores but will be easier to find online. The price varies widely and is completely dependent on the material that they are made from. Gold, platinum and jewel encrusted bangles are amongst the most expensive.
